I helped organize a campaign by Australian and international academics to alert Australian Vice Chancellors of problems with implementing the IHRA Draft Guidelines on Antisemitism. Of course, we were not the only group, but I think the letter we sent to 43 universities helped to act as a corrective to some of the hysteria being put forward by the Israel-can-do-no-wrong lobby. There is deliberate confusion between strong criticism of Israel, the argy-bargy of student politics, and classic antisemitism. There is sufficient law and procedure in place to deal with any incidents, rather than woolly and confusing guidelines that are regarded as prescriptive, for all intents and purposes, by the Lobby.
